First and foremost, we are parents, who, just like you, want the best for our children. As your PTO Board, we’re committed to providing guidance and leadership to the great team of volunteers at Horace Mann, as we work toward our primary goal: enhancing the educational experience of our children. We will do this through school spirit activities, as well as by raising funds to provide financial support for various needs at the school. We’re off to a great start with many fun events and successful fundraisers already underway!

PTO Committee Descriptions
Spirit Committee: Organizes Horace Mann community events such as: Jump On In Night, Roller World Night, Ice Cream Social and Memorial Day float.
Family Cookout: Gathers the community together for the purchase of fun cookout foods prepared by some of our teachers and staff.
Pumpkin Festival: A long standing Horace Mann tradition which requires many volunteers. A family oriented Fall themed festival which includes games, the infamous haunted house, a pumpkin sale, pony rides, baked goods and so much more!
Field Day: Coordinates with physical education teacher to create a fun school wide competition encouraging good sportsmanship and exercise.
Box Tops: Collects box tops and mail them to General Mills for cash for our school.
Creative Arts and Science: Coordinates with administration and curriculum to schedule enriching activities for the entire student body.
Hospitality: Supplies Open Houses and various events with delicious goodies and refreshments. Also plans and runs the Spring Teacher Appreciation activities and luncheon.
Library Committee: Coordinates with Curriculum Director to update library materials and coordinates the classroom volunteer system.
Garden Club: Creates and manages our beautiful community garden. Also, assists with the Club that meets monthly after school and periodically teaches related lessons to classes.
New Parent Liaison: Answers questions from anyone new to our school.
Golf Tournament Committee: Runs our largest fundraiser of the year! Assist with fundraising efforts, decorations, ticket sales and much more.
Math-a-thon: School-wide competition that raises money for PTO while honing math skills.
Family Directory: Collection of contact information of Horace Mann families to create a directory of all who opt to be included.
Volunteer Coordinator: The keeper of all volunteer and event information.
Mini-Grant: Helps review and approve teacher proposals for mini-grants each Spring.
Family Fund: The Horace Mann Family Fund was established in 2005 as a way to support families in our community who, due to illness, a tragedy or traumatic event, find themselves in need. Each year, the committee sponsors a Red Sox Opening Day Fundraiser in April. All requests and distributions are kept in the strictest confidence. If you or someone you know, because of illness, tragedy or traumatic event, could benefit from this fund, please contact one of the HMFF board.
